Liguanea ‘Best Post Office’
The recent 2005-6 Public Sector Customer Service Awards delighted persons who work within the public sector. The staging of such a promotion was significant since morale across the public service has been boosted, as not only those public servants whose organisation was able to attain the prestige of an award celebrated. This has resulted in an apparent renewal of the commitment to provide customer service excellence.

This augurs well for each CUSTOMER of the Postal Service, as this entity was able to have at last reached the distinction of being considered as a finalist in the selection of the ‘Most Creative /Innovative’ category. The Percy Junor Hospital in Spaldings, Clarendon was eventually awarded this prize, but according to Public Relations and Marketing Manager, Gordon Brown, “the entire Postal Service team is jubilant to have at least been viewed as a potential winner. This gives us the impetus to push to attain a top prize in the future. On behalf of the Postal Service team, I wish to express our appreciation to Paymaster for their sponsorship of the ‘Best Post Office’ award and congratulations for our corporate partnership”.

At the presentation ceremony on May 2, 2006, Athinia Campbell, Chief Project Officer, Paymaster (Ja) Ltd, presented Postmaster, Liguanea Post Office, Pamela Lee-Blake, with the award for ‘Best Post Office’. Liguanea PO is a modern, spacious, facility that offers the full spectrum of products available from the postal service. Numerous customers have stated their pleasure with the quality of service there, but that does not imply that this is unique to Liguanea. Carol Royes, Senior Director, Standards & Monitoring Unit, Office of the Cabinet, commented: “Many postal service outlets across the nation received acclamation, but there was only one prize available, so we may have to acquire sponsorship for two ‘runner-up’ prize categories in future competitions”.

Postmaster, Port Maria PO, Deloris Smith, was one of the awardees in the ‘Dedicated to Good Customer Service, Individual’ category in recognition of her outstanding dedication to customer care. She indicated that her award has to be ‘shared’ with the entire team, as: “They have all maintained a really high standard of customer care and so I feel that this prize is for all of us here at Port Maria PO”.
