Mandeville PO to host next Open Day

THE PUBLIC is invited to visit the Mandeville Post Office tomorrow, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This event will be the next in the series of planned Open Days, which is organised by the postal service's Personnel Department for citizens to get vital information (and perhaps a souvenir gift) from our sponsors.

The Black River Post Office hosted the most recent Open Day on Tuesday, May 10.

The event simultaneously accomplishes two objectives: for the public, it highlights the postal service's range of services and provides staff with an oppor-tunity to discuss personnel-related issues. The sponsors had knowledgeable customer service teams on hand to provide information on their products and services.

The response from the citizens of Black River was good, as many persons came to get advice from the following sponsors: Postal Corporation, Black River Health Department, National Commercial Bank, National Housing Trust, National Insurance Scheme, the Pensions Unit of the Office of the Services Commissions, Postal Coop Credit Union, Pre-University College of Jamaica, RBTT, Tax Administration Services Department, and the Central Sorting Office.

Leroy Lawson (left) receives a cheque representing proceeds of a staff collection from welfare officer, Marcia McDonald. Lawson, a postman, whose house and contents were destroyed in flames recently, was the beneficiary of donations of cash and kind from staff. This type of caring assistance is organised by the Welfare Office at the Central Sorting Office (CSO) in Kingston . Staff members may join the welfare fund and make a token contribution each month in order to get assistance in similar circumstances. They may contact the Welfare Office at 922-9430-8, ext. 2368, for more details.
